What is visual closure and why does it matter? To begin, we’ll address eyesight. Vision is much more than seeing 20/20. There are......
Our one-on-one approach to patient care makes Dr. Myers and the Indiana Vision Development Center, PC staff the developmental care provider of choice in Northeast Indiana and Northwest Ohio. Our office specializes in vision problems which are interfering with performance. Many times these are performance problems of students in the classroom–especially with reading. In addition, we work with many patients who have eye turns, lazy eye, visual changes following a traumatic brain injury or stroke and athletes seeking to improve their performance. Because catching problems as early as possible is in everyone’s best interest, we are also a participating office for InfantSEE, a program of the American Optometric Association which offers free screenings for infants between the ages of 6 and 12 months. At Indiana Vision Development Center, PC, we are dedicated to providing high-quality developmental optometry services in a comfortable environment.
“Since approximately age 20, I have experienced eye fatigue, blurring, and eventually double vision when reading. Within 3 weeks of beginning vision therapy, I began to notice improvement. By 8 weeks, I could read for 30-40 minutes without strain. By the end of therapy, I can read 45-60 minutes without strain. Most amazingly, when my vision begins to blur, I can make my eyes re-focus and I see the print clearly. I had no idea I could influence my vision.”
"Prior to vision therapy, anything related to schoolwork made our house very stressed. We tried tutoring through summers, Neurofeedback, medication for ADD/ADHD. Each helped a small amount but there was still a big piece missing from this puzzle. Vision therapy has helped us fill in the puzzle. My son doesn’t fight doing homework any longer. He doesn’t get headaches from trying to read. He has confidence in himself and his academic ability for the very first time, and he is a sophomore in high school. I wish we would have found IVDC when he was younger. It would have made his earlier school years much easier.“
“Becky was falling behind in schoolwork and was really struggling. Reading was getting harder and she did not enjoy it. Her twin was excelling at school. Becky was also having trouble in sports. I kept thinking it was vision related but she always tested well 20/20 on conventional eye charts. One day I was looking for another eye chart doctor & saw Dr. Myers’ ad. What a change! Within 10 weeks of vision therapy, her grades improved & the best was her attitude change. Her performance in sports improved, also. She has gained much confidence in herself.”
“My daughter was 15 before we found out about vision therapy and we had struggled in school since she was 7..Unbeknownst to me, her left eye did not come in when trying to look at the bridge of her nose. Since vision therapy, she has been able to move her left eye fully in. She has also gained self-esteem and more confidence. She does better in reading and remembering. Spelling is coming along with some visual and remembering skills she has learned. On her tests, she gets most of them correct on her own now.”
“Vision therapy has helped DJ tremendously. The assessment identified his specific problems and a treatment plan was developed specifically for him. His reading—and enjoyment of reading—has improved dramatically. His teacher was impressed with his improvement. It was well worth the time and money invested. Don’t wait.”
“We have seen huge, positive changes in Katie since December. 95% of what we thought were ADHS symptoms have been resolved with nothing except vision therapy. Katie’s coordination has dramatically improved. She can easily hit a softball or kick a soccer ball now. She is markedly less clumsy and has fewer spills. Her concentration & ability to pay attention have also greatly improved and we’ve seen great improvement in school.”
“Our daughter went from getting all D’s & F’s to getting all B’s on her latest report card. She is in 2nd grade and now loves school. So very, very happy we did vision therapy. Now we can manage our lives better with less frustration. We highly recommend that if you’re lucky enough to find out about Vision Therapy, please jump at the opportunity. It will change your lives….for the better!! “
"As a mom and a teacher I was very concerned. As we went through eye therapy, I started to see the changes happening for her. I really noticed in her spelling first, and then in her reading. She is much more attentive to her work, and has a more positive attitude. It is a great improvement from what used to happen. I am excited for her and would recommend this to anyone."
"Even with a thorough report, as parents, we were still skeptical. Before we committed to therapy we researched Dr. Myers' findings, consulted other optometrists, and referenced others in the program. All sources led to the conclusion that vision therapy was a legitimate program that yielded success."
"Before eye therapy, she approached reading with defeat and frustration. Now she cheerfully and confidently picks up a book and reads aloud. She even reads along with me and corrects my mistakes!"
“Dr. Myers has provided my family with great vision therapy care these past few years. I would recommend Indiana Vision Development Center, PC to anyone looking for a developmental vision therapy optometrist.”
